Firewall and networking

I am no expert.. Self taught but have worked considerablly with computers.. I found that networking on Vista was much more difficult than on their other OS's. Permissions and the firewall make it much more difficult to set up. I supposed I could have read the instructions.. 8:) But I didn't. And neither do most people?? Am I spolled by XP, routers and Zone Alarm?? Or did others have the same problem??

What issues did you run into? For me, one machine worked out of the box. On my other machine, I chose private network(User Error) and thus did not have internet access, I clicked the repair button, and correctly answered I had a machine on the internet and it took care of it...have not run into any other issues.

If Networking is designed to work out of the Box after turning on Printer and file sharing. I suppose my issue could be with my puter.. (7 networked puters. 6 XP and one Vista.) The only machine I had without XP was my slowest.. 850 mghz/512 ram/128 mb video.. Adding removing hardware and programs and things such as setting up the network. Are painfully slow. Or.. Could it be… I am painfully inpatient?? Most likely a little bit of both.. And I may have messed up some settings and manually had to figure out how to reset them.. A machine of this speed should only be expected to surf the net. ON A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION.. I’ll wait till there are more drivers available before I install on my faster machines..
You think I could have made my first mistake??
Thanks for breaking my heart.. 8:)

Yes, the firewall configuration for outgoing connections is very difficult because in this beta 2 there's not an interactive prompt when a program need to estabilish an outgoing connection in order to create a rule on the fly. I hope in RC1.
